TIt’s championship time in the world of OCAA bats and gloves.
The Fanshawe Falcons women’s softball team fell 4-2 to the St. Clair Saints at the OCAA championship in Windsor, Ont., on Oct. 22. The loss ended their season. Still, one member of the Falcons took home some hardware before the tournament’s first pitch.

Dalrymple ranked second in the league in innings pitched this season with 79 and third in strikeouts with 98.
On the baseball side, the Falcons come in as favourites. The defending OCAA champions posted a 17-1 regular season.
Fanshawe’s Holden Heipel was named OCAA Player of the Year. He and five other Falcons were honoured as first- or second-team all-stars, (1st- Heipel, Owen Constantineau, Luke Allen, Connor Rodwin; 2nd- Hunter Wright, Jud McGowan) and Ryan Baynton made the all-rookie team.
A pair of wins over St. Clair on Oct. 17 sends the Falcons to the gold-medal series for the second straight year. They meet the Lambton Lions in a best-of-three series that starts Friday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. at Norm Aldridge Field in London.
